The National Youth Service Corps Lagos State coordinator Mr. Eddy Megwa has promised to build on the existing cordial relationship between the scheme and the National Population Commission when he led his management team on a courtesy visit to the Director, National Population Commission in Surulere, Lagos.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Eddy Megwa described the long time relationship between the two organisations as a "Marriage of compatibility".He also used the visit to intimate the NPC Director of the challenges faced by both organisations. He said he would want to work with the NPC to find a lasting solution to the issue of flood,electricity and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in and around both premises.
Mr Eddy told his host that he has informed the Lagos State Governor, through the Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Relations of the challenges hoping that the issue will soon be solved.
Mr. Megwa also assured his host of the scheme's maximum cooperation stressing, that his office is open for constructive discussions that will lead to the betterment of both organisations .
Responding , the Director National Population Commission Lagos, Mr. Murphy Adigun thanked the State Coordinator for finding time out of his busy schedule to see him. He said he is aware of all the challenges enumerated by the NYSC Coordinator and he is equally doing something about them.
He however assured Mr. Megwa of his support and corporation in dealing with the issues.
Mr. Adigun also informed the state Coordinator of the forth coming National Census and the need for NYSC (staff and corps members )to partner with them in the exercise.
