LASG set to finance corps members in production of anti covid-19 products

The Lagos State Government, through the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins has promised to finance the production of liquid hand wash, facemasks, sanitizers and other materials that would assist in containing coronavirus by Corps members.

The commissioner made the pledge during a presentation ceremony of items produced by corps members serving in Lagos State, as part of their contribution in the fight against the deadly coronavirus disease ravaging the world.

He said the gesture was not only symbolic, but also commendable, adding that he was encouraged by the effort of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), through the corps members, while reiterating the state Government's readiness to integrate corps members on a larger scale for more assignments.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa in his address, said he was full of joy because the NYSC is actualising its desire in contributing to the fight against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, adding that corps members through the Skills Aquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) produced the items themselves.

Megwa also used the opportunity to inform the gathering that corps members are presently championing the distribution of palliative items in Lagos state to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state.

He also dropped a hint that the NYSC secretariat is presently working out modalities with the office of the Commissioner for Special Duties on the formation of the NYSC Anti COVID 19 Vanguard whose responsibility will continue even after the pandemic is over.
