The Lagos State National Youth Service Corps Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa has today commissioned an Auto-handwash system donated by Eti-Osa III corps members at the State Secretariat, Surulere.
The auto-handwash system project, which was constructed and presented to the state secretariat by the 2019 'B' and 'C' Corps members serving at the Eti-Osa III Local Government Area, is aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Lagos State.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) statistics, Lagos State accounts for the highest record of the Coronavirus out of the over 11, 500 cases confirmed in the country.
Explaining the project, the SC said the Eti-Osa III Corps members came together to raise funds to do this project at Lagos State Secretariat because it is the center of all local governments in Lagos State.
He said the auto-handwash system has three automatic or sensor taps and soap dispensers that work when hands are close to them, as well as a pressure pump to help with a good flow of water from the taps.
"This is Lagos and we mean business in everything we are doing. This is stress free, when you come in, push in your hands, you don't require exerting pressure with your legs or hands on anything. You stretch your hands and the liquid soap pours into it, you then stretch to the water and it pours into your hands automatically.
"As stated earlier, we are using all sensor required materials in this project to reduce physical contacts and the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It is to our honor and privilege that Eti-Osa III Corps members came together in their best way in achieving this goal during the COVID-19 pandemic.
" That is why we are different from others and I can tell you that you don't find this anywhere because this is unique in itself and for those that will want a thing like this, they should come to us and we will sell the technology to them.
"This will go a long way in combating this Covid-19. With the water here being constant and connected to a bore hole that we just sank, with everything working beautifully and cleared by the National Agency for Food, Drug and Adminstration Control (NAFDAC), we are good to go, and we implore people as they are coming to run any manner of business with the NYSC, they should get themselves sanitized at the automatic handwash point and we will attend to you," Megwa added.
