ETIOSA 1 LGA HOLDS FIRST EVER VIRTUAL CORPS EMPLOYERS WORKSHOP

The National Youth Service Corps, Eti-Osa 1 Local Government in Lagos State, has once again set new standards, by holding the first ever virtual Corps employers workshop with the theme,  "Rising above the challenges of the Pandemic through more effective Youth Corps engagement and Greater NYSC/Corps Employers Participation."  

The webinar  which was birthed to address the unprecedented post Pandemic challenges accosting both Corps Employers and Corps members, took place via the Zoom Web Application for Video and Audio Conferencing on Tuesday ,6th October , 2020 at 11am.

The approach was necessitated by the need to adhere strictly to Government regulations and guidance in the ongoing battle to contain and control the further spread of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Webinar had about 92 Corps Employers and NYSC Lagos State top managment Staff who joined in remotely from the comfort of their offices within Iru-Victoria Island LCDA and State Secretariat in Surulere. 

Speaking at the event the State Coordinator – Mr. Eddy Megwa detailed the participants on the Statutory Responsibilities of Corps Employers and Strategies to engage corps members for greater productivity in post Pandemic period. He further reiterated on the need for corps employers to establish good relationships with the Local Government Offices.     

Reacting at the event, some Corps Employers applauded the scheme for such a ground-breaking feat and watershed moment in the history of Lagos State while requesting that the webinar should be made more often and replicated nationwide as it provides opportunity for Corps Employers voices to be heard.

Other concerns that came top in the demands    of the Corps Employers for better partnership includes Work ethics tutoring for Corps members, Right Posting and more frequent monitoring of Corps members among others.
