NYSC, NCDC REITERATE COMMITMENT TO ENSURE A COVID FREE ORIENTATION COURSE IN LAGOS

The National Youth Service Corps, Lagos State has reiterated its commitment to ensure a Covid free 2020 Batch 'B' Stream 2 Orientation Course in the state. 

This was made known during a sensitization of awareness and an evaluation of performance during the previous camping exercises at the Lagos Camp which was organized by the NYSC in collaboration with the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) at the NYSC Secretariat in Lagos yesterday. 
The State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mr. Eddy Megwa  said all safety apparatus have been activated to combat the dreaded virus as the Camp has always been ready to receive the prospective Corps members on arrival for the camping activities. 

He added that Management is not oblivious of the fact that the virus is dangerously real and so its leaving no stone unturned to ensure maximum safety of all Course participants in the forthcoming 2020 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course.
 In her remark, Dr. Ladun Okunromade the NCDC team lead  appreciated the Lagos team for the collaboration and expressed high hopes that the exercise will yield a fruitful outcome.

She however informed the participants that the second wave of Covid 19 is on the rampage and still killing people.
 She further reminded that the rapid spread of the Coronavirus across the country especially in Lagos State and FCT having the highest number of confirmed cases needs extra effort to extinguish the pandemic.

 She  added that there is the  need to strengthen the COVID-19 safety protocols in order to also prevent the transmission and further spread of the second wave of the virus.

  Dr Okunromade advised  that adherence and compliance with the guidelines and protocols  in the NYSC orientation camp must be enforced for the good of all Course participants.

   In a similar reaction from the resource persons, Dr. Disu from the NCDC commended the Lagos NYSC  Camp authorities for putting measures in place to curb the spread of the Coronavirus during the two streams of Orientation Courses late last year and expressed confidence that the feat will be sustained in the forthcoming Orientation exercise.

During the meeting, Dr Akintayo, Head of Surveillance from the Lagos State Ministry of Health expressed satisfaction at the compliance level during the last two Orientation Courses.

 He remarked that Management of the Lagos Camp explored all the tenets of safety guidelines from the beginning of the Orientation Courses till the end.

 He commended all Stakeholders and said he expects to see a replication of the successes recorded in the last two Orientation Courses in this 2020 Batch B Stream 2 

Among the participants that attended the sensitization were Management Staff, Course Officials and serving Corps members that have been trained and detailed for the rapid testing of prospective Corps members at the Orientation Camp gate.
