Minister of Youths and Sports visits Lagos NYSC camp.

At almost mid-day on Friday, 15th of November, the minister of youths and sports, Mr Sunday Dare, represented by the permanent secretary, federal ministry of youths and sports, Mr Olusade Adesola, paid a visit to the NYSC orientation camp, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.

After a tour of the camp, the Lagos state coordinator, Mr Sunday Aroni, welcomed the guest, saying his visit was out of his love and passion for the Nigerian youths. While giving an update on the situation of the camp which includes feeding, accommodation, water, clinic and electricity. The state cordinator expressed his gratitude to the state government for remaining steadfast in support of the scheme in the state.

The permanent secretary, Mr Olusade Adesola in his address, expressed joy in being in the midst of the youths and conveyed the felicitation of the honorable minister of youths and sports to the Corps Members.

Mr Adesola said he was quite impressed with the combined efforts of the state government and the NYSC officials in providing an enabling environment for Corps Members in the camp.

He urged them to only do things that will promote the unity and oneness of the nation and also advised them to participate in every activity on camp, especially the SAED program.

He added that, "under the leadership of the minister, various empowerment programs have been introduced for the youths.

A new platform has been put in place targeting the attainment of over 200,000 youths with digital skills. After the10-days SAED training in camp, arrangements have been made for additional 8weeks post camp training."

He also informed the Corps Members about the soon to be launched Digital Online Youths Assembly (DOYA), linked with the SAED connect to keep the youths updated with opportunities and job openings.

He concluded by cautioning Corps Members against indiscriminate use of the social media and unlawful travels, as they go against the code of conduct of the NYSC.

The event ended with a colourful cultural display from Corps Members.
