Corps Members Lead Distribution of COVID-19 Palliative Stimulus Package in Lagos State

The Lagos State Government in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has mobilised corps members serving in the state in the distribution of the relief package across all the Local Government Areas of the State.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Lagos, Mr. Eddy Megwa, who led the  exercise at the Agege Local Government Area where the event kicked-off today, said it is part of measures  to ease the distribution mechanism of the stimulus packages to its grassroot citizens of the state.

Recall the President, Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday, April 13 announced an additional 14 days lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun to enable the country manage the coronavirus pandemic, as the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has said the number of cases has risen to 442, with 13 deaths recorded, as at the time of filing this report.

Megwa said the COVID-19 outbreak has become a pandemic, attracting global and local attention as it poses an existential threat in our society, which necessitated Governments’ attention to  focus on containing and controlling the further spread of the virus. 


"Here in Lagos, the State Governments’ efforts is also focused on means in ameliorating the challenges and sufferings of the people in the midst of the ongoing battle against this unseen enemy which has led to the provision of palliative stimulus package for distribution to Lagosians en masse," the NYSC boss said.
