Corps members serving with the Nigerian Ports Authority under the Lagos Island Local Government have donated palliative items to support government's effort in cushioning the effect of hunger and crimes arising from the global pandemics in the State.
The corps members, who were led by the Zonal Inspector, Princess M.A Ajiboye and Local Government Inspector, Mr C.C Obiakala of Lagos Island, donated palliative items, such as Spaghetti, indomie Noodles, sugar, salt, tomatoes paste and garri among other items, which were received by executives of the Lagos Island Local Government.
The corps members with the state codes are: Vokito Pitapwa Fiyigon, LA/19B/7120; Nwajoku Amuche Winniefred, LA/19B/6193; Anigbogu Chinedu Michael, LA/19B/6329; Abalum Vivian Chisom, LA/19B/693; Raji Maryam Y, LA/19B/5801; Oketola Ayomide Kehinde, LA/19C/1338; Munachiso Ijeomah, LA/19A/0792; Ogunyemi Omolara, LA/19C/1069.
The Zonal Inspector, while appreciating the executives for their warm reception, noted that the project would not have been actualised without the encouragement of the dynamic leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Lagos State Coordinator, Mr Eddy Megwa .
Ajiboye further noted that the corps members decided to embark on the project as a means of contributing their widow's mite towards the reduction of hunger and crimes that arose from the global pandemics.
In his remark, the Vice Chairman, Mr Wadood Babatunde Bashorun, who represented the Chairman and members of the local govt legislature, thanked the management of the Lagos NYSC and corps members for their extraordinary gestures to the residents and assured that the items will get to the extremely indigent people in the community.
Bashorun noted that because of the confidence and trust reposed on the corps members posted to the local government, they are also used to mobilise revenue for the government.
He promised to engage the chairman to see how they can partner with the corps members in the production of the face masks and other covid 19 products .
