Agege, Ifako-Ijaiye, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Areas, Others Get NYSC Covid-19 palliative, face masks
There was succour among the indigent members of various communities, as the Lagos State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Coordinator, Mr Eddy Megwa had today, led a team to distribute Covid-19 palliative items to several Local Government Areas in the state.
The move, which is in furtherance of the mandate of the National Youth Service Corps Scheme, in ensuring significant support to the Lagos State government in the ongoing battle against the novel coronavirus pandemic, also witnessed the presentation of 1600 branded face masks to the Lagos State Government.
The State Coordinator led the NYSC team, comprising Corps members, the AD(D&R), Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, AD(CIM), Mr. Adedotun Fasina and the AD(PPRU), Mrs. Joyce Madaki, to Agege, Ifako- Ijaiye and Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Areas, where a large number of residents benefited from the Covid-19 palliatives.
The NYSC boss, while presenting the palliative food items donated by the Corps Members representing Agege Local Government, to the Chairman of the Council , Hon. Ganiyu Egunjobi, said the large number of awaiting beneficiaries only justifies the drive behind the corps members' initiatives.
The team moved to Ifako- Ijaiye Local Government Area where the State Coordinator was received by the Chairman of the council, who held a brief town-hall meeting with members of the local community before presenting the palliatives on behalf of the Corps members of the Local Government Area.
In the same vein, there were distribution of food palliative and NYSC branded face masks to members of the grassroots community of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area by corps members, who also gave a COVID-19 awareness presentation to the beneficiaries.
Megwa, in his presentation, underscored the efforts of the corps members as remarkable, as he commended the community leaders for being accommodating to the corps members.
Meanwhile, the NYSC presented 1600 face masks to the Lagos State Government to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, as the state enforces the use of face masks from Monday, May 4.
The donated items were received on behalf of the State Government by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins at the the fire service office, Alausa, Ikeja.
The branded face masks, which were in various colours, were produced by the Lagos State corps members under its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED).
