In continuation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) palliative support to residents of Lagos State, Corps members serving in Mainland and Eti Osa 2 Local Government Areas have distributed Covid-19 relief packages to their host communities.
The Corps members, led by the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa presented food items such as, rice, garri, beans, tomatoe paste, cartons of noodles, spaghetti, sugar and salt, among other items.
Presenting the items, the State Coordinator commended the local government officials and residents for accepting the Corps members and giving them shelter in the various communities.
Megwa explained that the Lagos NYSC is contributing relentlessly towards alleviating the pains Nigerians are going through in this Coronavirus pandemic, which is in furtherance to what the federal and state governments are doing to assist the citizens by way of putting food on their table.
"In Lagos State specifically, we have been going round local governments, trying to assist them in one way or the order to alleviate the pains and sufferings our citizens are going through, because of this sudden ailment.
"What is very remarkable about what the NYSC is doing is that, we have corps members that are serving in these local councils and since they came for their national service, you have all being playing host to them.
"Observing what the people in the local government are going through, the corps members said they cannot fold their hands and see you go through all these pains, which is why they came together to task themselves to donate these food items," the NYSC boss said.
Receiving the palliative items, officials of the Mainland and Eti Osa 2 local government areas thanked the Lagos NYSC team for their support towards the vulnerable people in the communities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
