Following the distribution of palliatives in various Local Government areas of Lagos state, the National Youth Service Corps has distributed palliatives to the indigenes of Ibeju-Lekki local government area.
The programme which was well attended, had Mr. Dotun Fashina, Assistant Director, Corps Inspection and Monitoring in attendance, who represented the State Coordinator.
While relaying the State Coordinator's message to the Council and the recipients of the palliatives, Mr Fashina said the programme is aimed to be a bridge-builder between the NYSC and members of the host community and a way to associate with them in this period of pandemic given their friendly disposition to corps members.
In his response, Mr Kunle Whenu, the Council Manager who represented the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, appreciated the managers of the scheme in Lagos State for reaching out to members at the grassroots in a time like this and promised to convey the message of the NYSC to the Executive Chairman who has been supportive to the programme of the scheme in the council.
Presentation of the palliatives to some recipients was carried out by the representative of the State Coordinator, Mr. Dotun Fashina, and handed over to the Council for proper distribution to the indigenes.
In the delegation of the NYSC were, Miss Maria Ajiboye, Assistant Director, Lagos Island Zone, Mrs. Joyce Madaki, Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs Otoyo Esther, Personal Assistant to the State Coordinator and Mrs Garba Bintu.
It is note worthy that as compliment to the palliatives distributed, 120 nose-masks and sanitizers were produced by the corps members of the Local Government which was supervised by the Local Government Inspector, Mrs Folakemi Obadina.
