Corps members serving in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Government Development Council in Mushin have donated a COVID-19 sample collection booth to the local council.
Speaking on behalf of other corps members, Kayode Oluwadoyinsola LA/19B/4925, said 'the project was borne out of the need to reduce the high risk of health personnel contracting the disease and also expedite testing which is a major challenge in the state.
Oluwadoyinsola explained that the gadget has an extractor fan, a perspex board, a mini-board, two large gloves, inbuilt alcohol-based hand-sanitizer and an electrical lighting system.
Commissioning the project, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Dr. Yusuph Jimoh, commended the corps member for the lofty idea, he encouraged other organizations to come up with innovations that will ease the combat against the virus.
The Chief Medical Director of the council, Dr. Ahmed Obani said the gadget will be very useful at this time when we have community transmission.'
The Corps members also distributed food items to the people in the community, these include, cartoons of noodles, cornflakes, garri, beans, crayfish and food seasonings.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator, NYSC Lagos State, Mr. Eddy Megwa, appreciated the Permanent Secretary, for his support to the scheme in the state, he also thanked the Local Government Chairman for taking care of the corps members serving in the Local Government.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Razaq Olusola expressed appreciation to the NYSC State Coordinator for his leadership role in facilitating the kind gesture and called on members of the community to continue to wage the war against the virus by adhering to the existing guidelines.
