NYSC LAGOS VISITS 81 DIVISION NIGERIA ARMY, SEEKS FOR SUPPORT

The State Coordinator of NYSC Lagos State, Mr Eddy Megwa and members of the management team  paid a courtesy visit to the new General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Major General Godwin Umelo.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Megwa conveyed the appreciation of the Director-General of NYSC, Brig. Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim for the support accorded the scheme in Lagos over the years. 
Mr. Megwa said 'coming to pay you a formal courtesy visit today, is a  home-coming in the sense that we are coming to visit one of the most  critical stakeholders of the Scheme. 

He extolled the great and all important role the Military plays in the scheme especially during the Orientation camp of the corps members and prayed that such good working relationship be sustained.
Mr Megwa also used the opportunity to thank the GOC for using his good office to sustain immeasurable security protections for corps member posted to the military formations and other sectors of the state economy. 

Responding, General Umelo who appreciated the impact of the NYSC in the society said the relationship between the military and the NYSC is as old as the scheme and therefore will continue to do everything possible to sustain the vision of the founding fathers of the scheme.
He stated that the role of the NYSC in building a United Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. 

He commended the scheme for being able to bring different youths from diverse ethnic background and instilling in them the much desired spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
General Umelo equally praised NYSC Lagos  secretariat's ingenuity in mobilising corps members to render various support initiatives during the critical point of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
He finally stated  'We will continue to work with you, support you and assist you in anyway we can'.
General Umelo however presented a complimentary plaque to the State Coordinator who also presented Phenom- a publication which captured the works of corps members in Lagos State at the heat of the COVID 19, anti-bacteria hand wash soup, hand sanitizers and leather nose-masks made by corps members in Lagos State.
