National Youth Service Corps Lagos State Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa has commended the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu for providing security to corps members serving in the state.
Megwa made the commendation during a visit to the Office of the Commissioner of Police in continuation of the NYSC effort to constantly sustain the already existing relationship with its critical stakeholders.
The Coordinator thanked Mr. Odumosu for all his effort made so far in sustaining the relationship between the Police and the NYSC.
Mr Megwa noted with deep satisfaction the dispatch with which the Commissioner of Police handles issues that concerns NYSC in the state.
He thanked the Commissioner on how he dispatched men of the police force to all the local government areas in the state during the distribution of the Certificate of National Service to passing out
corps members.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police said NYSC should be given priority in national issues as it has brought about unity of the country.
Odumosu said the scheme has been pivotal to the building of a unified country through the youths of the nation from the diverse cultures and ethnic background of the country.
The CP said, having passed through the rudiment of the National Service scheme, the importance of the continuity of the NYSC and the virtues it brings in preserving the Nigerian heritage cannot be overemphasised.
Commenting on the security of the corps members as earlier mentioned by the NYSC State Coordinator, Odumosu assured that the police would always open its arm in ensuring the delivery of its
mandate of protecting lives and properties.
He further assured the Coordinator that beyond ensuring that all corps members posted to the state are safe and protected.
He equally gave directives that all corps members lodges should have the protection of the Nigeria police.
The CP expressed his being ever ready to assist the scheme in any way possible.
He equally made a call to Lagosians to ensure that corps members are assisted promptly when seen in distress.
