The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State, Mr Eddy Megwa has assured the Independent Electoral Commission in Lagos State of a sustained relationship between the two organisations.
This he said when he paid a courtesy call to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Lagos State, Mr Sam Olumekun today.
Mr Megwa who was accompanied to the event by some Assistant Directors from the NYSC said the visit is precipitated by the relationship between NYSC and INEC and the need to sustain it for the benefit of Nigeria's democracy.
While speaking on the readiness of NYSC towards electoral duties, Mr Megwa said the NYSC will continue to give support to INEC in every way possible to have seamless elections in the state.
Meanwhile, the Resident Commissioner of INEC in Lagos State lauded the NYSC for it's immense contributions to the democratic development of Nigeria. According to Mr Olumekun, many people don't know the importance of NYSC in Nigeria's election.
He said 'the turning point of election in Nigeria is the inclusion of NYSC in the electoral process. 'It has been quite ingenious since NYSC joined us in the conduct of elections in Nigeria'.
Appreciating the REC for the courtesies extended to the NYSC, Eddy Megwa presented the NYSC publications to the Commissioner.
Also presented were sample of a designer leather nose-mask produced by corps members of Lagos State for the prevention of the COVID19 pandemic, anti-bacteria handwash and hand sanitizers also produced by Lagos State corps members.
