NYSC LAGOS REWARDS 6 CORPS MEMBERS AS 8,168 PASS OUT

The National Youth Service Corps, Lagos state has presented awards to six corps members for their excellent performance among the 8,168 Batch 'C' stream 1, 2019 members that passed out in Lagos State today. 

Disclosing this during the  issuance of Certificate of National Service to corps members at Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area Secretariat, Ilupeju, the Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa, said the six corps members are been presented with the award of honour for distinguishing themselves during their service year.
He said three of them would be given the Lagos State Governor’s merit award among others things, and also compete with winners from other states for the President honour’s award, while the other three would be given certificate of commendation for their contribution during the service year.

The state coordinator lauded the Batch 'C' corps members, saying they served the country meritoriously; having gone through orientation trainings, primary assignments; community development services and executed several special projects. 
Megwa also commended the corps members for contributing their quota during the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic, as they donated palliatives, hand sanitisers, hand wash, Covid-19 Sample Collection Boot and face masks to their host community. 

Megwa however said 30 corps members would repeat their service as part of punitive measures for contravening the
provisions of the NYSC Act.

Secretariat, Ilupeju, Rasaq Olusola Ajala also commended the corps members for their contribution towards the Covid-19 pandemic in ensuring the community is safe, especially as they donated the Covid-19 sample collection boot, which is being used at the LCDA health centre. 

Ajala who was represented by the Supervisor for Health, Obale Adebola charged the corps members to be employers of labour and not job seekers.
